# Creating an issue in a SourceCraft repository

_Issues_ is a tool for tracking bugs, improvements, and new feature requests within a project. In an issue, you can start a discussion in comments, set the job status, priority, and responsible employee.

To create an [issue](https://vibe.sourcecraft.dev/portal/docs/en/sourcecraft/concepts/index.md#issues):
1. Open the SourceCraft [home page](https://sourcecraft.dev).
1. On the ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/house.svg) **Home** tab, under ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/layout-tabs.svg) **Your craftspace**, navigate to ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/archive.svg) **Repositories**.
1. Select the repository to create an issue in.
1. Under ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/calendar.svg) **Plan** on the repository page, go to ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/file-text.svg) **Issues**.
1. In the top-right corner, click ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/plus.svg) **New issue**.
1. In the window that opens:

    * Enter a name for the issue.
    * Optionally, provide a detailed description of the issue or an idea for a new feature.

      Descriptions and comments to [issues](https://vibe.sourcecraft.dev/portal/docs/en/sourcecraft/concepts/index.md#issues) and [pull requests](https://vibe.sourcecraft.dev/portal/docs/en/sourcecraft/concepts/index.md#pr) support short links to other issues and pull requests. Such entries automatically convert into hyperlinks that display a summary preview card on hover. Use the following formats:
      * `!<pull_request_number>`: Pull request in the current repository.
      * `<repository_slug>!<pull_request_number>`: Pull request in a different repository of the current organization.
      * `<organization_slug>/<repository_slug>!<pull_request_number>`: Pull request in the specified organization and repository.
      * `#<issue_number>`: Issue in the current repository.
      * `<repository_slug>#<issue_number>`: Issue in the a different repository of the current organization.
      * `<organization_slug>/<repository_slug>#<issue_number>`: Issue in the specified organization and repository.

    * Optionally, attach additional files.
    * Under **Priority**, set priority:
      * ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/chevrons-down-wide.svg) **Trivial**: Trivial
      * ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/chevron-down-wide.svg) **Minor**: Minor
      * ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/equal.svg) **Normal**: Regular
      * ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/chevrons-up-wide.svg) **Critical**: Critical
      * ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/ban.svg) **Blocker**: Blocker
    * Under **Visibility**, select issue access type:
      * **Private**: The issue can be accessed only by you.
      * **Public**: The issue can be accessed by any user with access to the repository.

        You can change the access level at any time.

    * Optionally, under **Assignee**, select the user responsible for the issue.
    * Optionally, under **Labels**, select the labels for the issue. 
          
      You can select existing labels from the list or create a new one. 
          
      To set the label color, click it and select the color from the drop-down list.
    * Optionally, under **Milestone**, select a [milestone](https://vibe.sourcecraft.dev/portal/docs/en/sourcecraft/concepts/index.md#milestones) to link the issue with.

1. To add links to other issues or [pull requests](https://vibe.sourcecraft.dev/portal/docs/en/sourcecraft/concepts/index.md#pr) right away (optional):

    * To link an issue to another issue, click ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/link.svg) **Link issue**.

        You can select an existing issue from the drop-down list or create a new one directly on the current page.

    * To link an issue with a pull request, click ![image](../../_assets/console-icons/link.svg) **Link pull request** and select it.

1. Click **Create issue**.
